8ba valves into 59ab question
I am about to install 16 nors 8ba exhaust valves and guides into my 3 1/16 bore 59 block. I am not using rotators. Have hollow adjustable lifters, stock 59 cam. Do I follow the lash settings as though it was an 8ba or a 59 ab? Did this a few years ago with rotators and never knew why some specs were as big as .018 in late engines. Thanks in advance.

Re: 8ba valves into 59ab question
A valve is a valve, the clearance difference would relate to the rotators, or the later cam which you are not using. Use the normal 59ab clearance with the stock cam. Note, valve clearance is mostly determined by the cam used.

Re: 8ba valves into 59ab question
Thank you very much. I'm home alone all day and I'm in heaven with this latest budget build. My first valve seat grinding, so I lapped them in and saw that they really didn't need it, but they all got a little.
