Default License Plates

Question for New York State folks. Does New York State allow you to use original license plates for the year of your car? For instance, can you use original 1934 plates on your 1934 Ford vehicle? I found a few old NY license plates in good condition but I'm not from NY. Thanks, New York barners.

If you go to the NYS DMV website they describe the method of their madness. The plate must be ledgiable and not repainted. A picture must be presented for proof. I have had several plates for my 35 but opted to use the vanity style. It's getting expensive to use special plates in NY.

I have them on my 32.I first checked to make sure the number on the plate was "good"(That the number wasn't being used today before I bought them)As stated in the previos post a picture must be included if it was a 2 plate year both plates must be included in the same photo.I did have mine repainted without out any issue registering the car.I think the important thing is not to change from the original color, which is available on the DMV website
