Default Electric fuel pump

I have an new electric fuel pump mounted on the frame rail ( with rubber bushings ) just behind the drivers door on my 34.
It is SOOOOOOOOOOO LOUD !!, put eastwood wrap on it , nothing
It just keeps clacking clacking and .... clac.....doesn't stop clacking.
I thought that it would make some noise until it was full and then a mild tick tick every once in a while.
Do not want to run a stock pump off the cam, anyone have experience with an electric fuel pump that is quiet. Or other ideas ?
Thanks Barn folks,
Gary

put it on a toggle switch-just use it to start the car then turn it off. However if you just plan on using the pump all the time, most if not all have a somewhat loud sound.

I've got several cars/trucks with electric fuel pumps, all are mounted close to the fuel tank and I've installed a "kill switch" on each, they are all 12 volt negative ground. I also have Flatheads/overheads running the stock mechanical fuel pumps as well.

I forgot to mention that the electric pumps are not noisy at all, I got them from NAPA.

I appreciate all of the input, curious though that every one says "put it as close to the tank as you can ".
The old stock mechanical pump is way away at the motor ?

there are different specs on the "head" height for the pumps....if you are curious to all the permutations go to the purolatorfacet website and see all the different specification. most electric fuel pumps have limits on the height that they can draw from
