Default 56 ford power steering

Has anyone seen a electric solenoid on 56 power steering pump whats it for and hows it hooked up? Any help would be appreciated

To my knowledge, none of the '56 car models nor the trucks (even larger industrial types) had any electric components. Sounds like you have a backyard modification.

Sounds like a pump out of the '80s when they hit the idle kicker on a carb when the steering went to the turn stop to prevent the engine stalling...
