Send a PM to me and I'll send the instructions to your provided email. I have had ) luck trying to send info or pics in PM's. The Mt335 has a gap which is adjustable. The spark gap jump gives an indication of your coils potential and if the label is still remaining on it there is shown a range of the coils ability.

Check Bob C. post. Note the neck of the adjustment knob. It can fall into one of three areas. Red,bad, yellow, weak replace, and green good. Not familiar with the MT 640 designated coil tester.

Snap-On used to sell a small ball point pen styled tester to check spark at plugs. It also used a Geisler tube. My email is sponge19501924@yahoo. Of course no charge for info.
I have a MT335 and need the glass neon tube. Can one improvise or where to get one?

I don't know if this would help, but an AC tester to determine if a household circuit is hot has a neon tube, I believe. Perhaps that could be used as a substitute?

Thanks Bud. I have searched for neon tubes but most I have
found that list the operating voltage for them are much lower than
what you would need for a coil output.

Ya,...did the same thing...
The machine works just fine without it, tho...
But it would be real nice to find one, too complete it...

The thing that makes me mad is the one I got off Epay had
a good one. When the guy shipped it he double boxed it (good
you think) but the coil tester was bouncing around in the inside
box with no other packing so the neon tube broke. I got it real
cheap so I just kept it.

I'd give Radio Shack a try. They sure aren't what they used to be, but they might have the neon tube.
