Transmission Oil
I've been running 600 wt oil in the gearbox, with some moly disulfide powder added. The box is basically quiet and shifts relativly OK.
I just drained about 80% of the 600/moly mix out and replaced it with Lucas Heavy Duty oil stabilizer. With about 50 miles on it I can say the first and second gear noise level is down some and the shifting is easier and smoother. Shifting is aided by the gears slowing down quicker, which I take to mean the oil viscosity is staying thick even when fully warmed up. So far, I'd have to say this is a good change for my A. John

Re: Transmission Oil
I've heard that the Lucas Heavy duty oil stabilizer helps in straight cut gears, and might just try it one of these days....it sure is easier to find than 600w...

Re: Transmission Oil
I have used it for sometime in my A's transmission, works great. Remember there are more ideas about what type and brand of lube to use than there is A's to put it in. It is your car do what works good for you.

Re: Transmission Oil
Yes, I'm aware nearly everyone has an opinion about oil, weather and politics. I just mainly wanted to report on a good experience.
