I have great memories of that show from back in the 1970's, how is it now?

I attended in the mid 80's. Nice show. I was flogging a MG Midget and they always had a good flea market for foreign cars. I passed on an Edsel convert for $1500 that I which I hadn't. I showed a car there one year and came in second which both pleased me and made me wonder. Third place was much better than mine. First place was not as good as either of ours, but I was told that car was the show leaders car...Years later I became the chief judge at our Sully show and the meet chairman, club president and my car were not to be judged.

I can remember taking a bud to that show who was not a local boy. On the way back to Jersey we stopped to swim in the Deleware River. He could not make himself jump in to cool off. Something about the river being dirty...

Clem, that last paragraph was funny! The Delaware has dirty water? Nah, it's just "brackish"!

The upper Delaware, above Trenton, has never been particularily Dirty. However the lower Delaware is much cleaner now. I could show him some water in NJ that's actually pretty clean but would scare the heck out of him. It's called "Cedar Water and it looks like tea. You find it in the Pinelands of so. Jersey. It can be drunk but most people would not. The Shad are making through in sufficient numbers to have Shad fests.
Regards, Terry

Terry, You made my day bro. I have canoed all the south Jersey rivers with my late Daddy. Cedar water is good for the heart and soul. Daddy had a hunk of south Jersey iron analized: 52% pure. Better'n most. I've done the Egg Harbor where the water is 4 degrees colder than any other river. The Wadeing River with its sallowness. Done Martha's lake paddling thru the dam break. A nice dip at Quaker bridge. I spent many wonderful days at Camp Ockanickon swimming is cedar water and chasing the girls at Matolly. I dream of going back to south Jersy and the pines.
(Dreaming of the pines and cedar water helped keep me sane during my times in Vietnam)

Daddy used to talk about catching shad in the Deleware off Thorofare in the teens. Then came all the pollution. During the early 50's Daddy would speak of catching shad again. Before that we would canoe the river and then have to clean the grease ring off the canoe before putting it back on the car.

Clem, If you grew up in the pines, stay where you are! You wouldn't recognize it! High Taxes and much BS. Before I came to Pa, I bought 28 acres in Shenandoah Co, Va. and my wife said NO!! so we came to Pa. instead. Anyplace but NJ! I still own my house over there but I'll unload when this economy improves. There is no other way to describe NJ except as a Kleptocracy. I heard a story about the regulation and fines that forced one of my old neighbors out of business last week. Too long to go into it here.
That Bog Iron (Liminite) was used during the Revolutionary war for cannons and cannon balls. Lotsa so Jersey towns were begun as forges. Forges and Glass producers (Glassboro) Very few people know anything about the pines outside of the state. My cousin from Idaho was kind of shocked by it. We took them on some of the roads (539 563) through the swamps and it seemed like jungle to them. Showed them the Pygmy pines near McGuire and they were kind of awed by it. We lived by the headwaters of the Toms River and I have canoed on it and Prospertown lake off 537.
