Three on tree VS floor shift
My 1940 Ford Standard business coupe has the shifter on the steering column.
Will the top shift transmissions adapt to column shift? Randall |

No. Need to change to a top shift transmission.

Re: Three on tree VS floor shift
The cases are different, the toploader is open on the top and has the shifter tower on it. The sideloader is open on the side and has the shifter arms that attach to the column shifter.

Re: Three on tree VS floor shift
Learned to drive a 55 Ford with three on the tree, bought a 69 pickup some years later with column shift and drove it for sixteen years.
I would be inclined to convert a car back the other way. |
