Very interesting Professor.
I don't think I would be up to that much traveling.

Dave Schaub did a similar trip to all 49 states a few years back in his '32 Ford roadster, for charity. He covered 9,800 miles in 216 hours......no co-pilot, either. DD

Looks like a wonderful trip! I have at least one place, Mark Twain House under my belt. It's about 5 miles from my house. Beautiful old Victorian house, too bad it's in an area that is a little run down now. But still worth a visit.

The route is 13,699 miles long and would take 9.33 days of non-stop driving. The route planner, however, estimated 2-3 months to take it leisurely. Interesting article about how the trip was planned with an algorithm here: http://www.mnn.com/lifestyle/eco-tou...e-us-road-trip

The good/bad part about a trip like that is that each place I would get to, I would see something else that would interest me and I'd want to explore it too. So put me down for maybe 8 months.

I'd do the same thing. So much to see.

I think mapping out the best roads to travel between the stops would be interesting.
A couple I can think of hwy #1 California and hwy #1 Maine.

I think Dave loosely based his charity ride on the Iron Butt Association (motorcycle) ride. If you look up the IBA website, you can read about several of their rides. Get a certificate for 49 states in 10 days. How would you like to try for Coast-to-Coast, on 50cc?
(Brizio-built roadster, by the way)

I couldn't help but notice they didn't include the Rodge Mahal Between Bryce Canyon and Craters of the Moon. Musta been an oversight. Wayno

No. We're not going. I've already been there and done that. . . with 10 kids in our 15 passenger van with camping trailer behind. Not all in one trip, but been to all states on the road.
