Default Oil Pressure Sender... 6v & 12v

My '51 Tudor project continues, converted to 12v neg. ground but voltage reducer to fuel, temp, and oil pressure gauges. I have an under dash gauge cluster for 12v temp and oil pressure, both are electric, can the electric oil pressure sender share the same sender? Thanks guys

The senders don’t care if it’s 6 or 12 volt. However the original senders don’t work with aftermarket gauges.

Although the second statement is true, I don't know about the first.

Senders work on resistance, so 12v or 6v doesn't matter. But the gauge and sender resistance must match (aftermarket vs factory). You can make your stock gauges work with a different engine if needed, I would run the stock setup.

I'm not understanding your post. You put a voltage converter in? The under dash gauges are they after market? Like others have said, you can't mix non-matching senders with gauges unless your extremely lucky, then buy a power ball ticket the chances are they same you hit the jack pot.

Ford senders DO NOT work by "resistance". They operate on the "King-Seeley" principle that uses bi-metal strips and points that open and close at changing frequencies. Thus is why folks get weird readings when trying to use various aftermarket senders.

Thanks for the responses guys. I figured this was a no go. I'll have to decide which oil pressure gauge I want to rely on, the original or the under dash Stewart Warner for which I do have a matching sender. And thanks Denny, I should have remembered the "King-Seeley" system.

Put a T in the engine and mount both senders then all the gauges would be operational, although a mechanical aftermarket would be preferable.
