Default Back surgery update

Today I finally got released from nearly 4 days in the Largo, FL hospital were I had two separate surgeries in 3 days. Tuesday's was rough as it was the L2-L3 joint which was very messed up from a large herniation. I have a 4" incision there needed to reach both sides of the spine. Yesterday's surgery tackled the C5-C6-C7 joints to repair to lessor herniated discs on the left side only. The good news is that the pain in my arms and legs are gone. The bad news is we are still 450 miles from home having flown from Asheville NC to the Tampa area to find a qualified surgeon to fix the mess. I have some pain from the large incision through many layers of muscle.
The Lord has been good and a full recovery is expected in about 3 months or so. I now have to rebuild my strength for the flight home on Tuesday.
It is funny that my nurses think I am crazy and or tough to get the surgeries close together and I don't need to drink to swallow big pain pills

I am facing 12 hour spine surgery in Canada. Is your hospital a specialized spine institute? Wayne

Get well and thanks for reminding us here about the importance of a good back. This hobby involves some heavy lifting, in tight spaces, under less than ideal conditions, and we all need to be careful, especially when working alone.

Glad you made it home and am on the mend. Hoping that with my upcoming surgery I am not in the hospital for 4 days. Was in for 8 days with my last surgery. Get well soon. Rod

GOOD on you and it's kind of a miracle that there are people who can correct these problems and more !! There is so much that can go wrong at times. I know. Ten yrs ago my 96 yr old father in law had a nerve cut during such surgery...and could never walk thereafter. Pain free is miraculous , indeed !! Try to take it easy and do what they tell you is best.

I truly understand the pain you been going thru and it's a tall order to live with, I plan to have something done on mine the first of next year.

M, that's great news, let the healing take place and be careful. Stay out of that Special coupe for a few weeks, I know how tight it is driving that car. Good luck and happy (soft) landing going home.

Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully I will be ready for a steering box rebuild by April. Until then I have some bench work to keep me occupied. The wife will keep me on task.
Dr. Ragab did the surgery and I recommend him highly. The low back was a mess and I didn't know how bad it was until the damage was done. The upper back now has no pain 2 days after surgery.
