Just finished reading the Tex Smith autobiography Inside Hot Rodding that was published by Grafitti Publications in Castlemaine Victoria. It would seem that MAFCA and MARC could license the RG&GS to a company like Graffiti so that it could be sold at a reasonable cost down under. Their email is [email protected]. Be forewarned that this company does publish titles like Hot Rodding International and (gasp) Austrailian Street Rodding.

You can also get these books from the parts vendors. i would think they would have a greater understanding of international shipping then the national clubs. I'm not knocking the clubs, it's just a matter of experience.

As for the book its self, whether it's a find point or just a driver the book can be of great assistance is the restoration of your A. Examples, What stanchions were used on a certain year roadster, what are the differences in the frames between the years, where is the serial number stamped? If you have before you a couple of the same parts, which would have appeared on my car when new? And so on. It is often just as easy to place the "correct" part in your car then it is any part, so why not the "correct" part.

I offered to buy the book off of a member here on Fordbarn if after getting it he felt it was a waste of money, he did not take me up on it.

Admit it, we all have wasted much more then the cost of the book for far less. Get it, you will not be disappointed.

I've never noticed it but do people that have the guidelines use it to ID and list parts by proper month? Will it help sell parts? Bob

That is one of the reasons I use it. I don't know if it will help in selling parts unless it's a rare part.

It has helped me on several occasions in Hershey to sell a part, as the correct application was able to be determined on the spot.

I found it of more use to somebody trying to get a trophy but still, it is difficult to turn down any book that educates us about our cars. And the pictures/diagrams of parts that were changed or altered in production is always interesting. Obviously the Company continually studied the car for improvement on its components and, I daresay, took input from owners and repair shops very seriously.

I am in the same circumstances - postage/freight makes the proposition untenable. We need an aussie-mate going to the US who does not mind a little extra baggage!

If you really want to get burned, there's a used one (1997) on Amazon for $75 + $4 for shipping.

I realize if you are showing a perfect car you need the book but what if you only need the info once in awhile.
I use the Les Andrews book mostly but occasionally the JS comes in handy if I want to be sure you are using the correct part. Also good for differences between early 28, 28/29 and 30/31 which there are many.

For instance I have 5 different style throttle linkages. Which one to use would be a JS question. Les Andrew's book wouldn't answer that question.
