Very nice. I just shot this one this afternoon when I had the 39 out. I think that coil must be about finished. I had to winch the car back into the shed after it stalled and would not restart. Later when it cooled down it started ok.

If you're talking about my pictures, no. The only one this year is the one on Pike's Peak Road a week ago. The others are some favorites from prior autumns.

Who's storing their cars for winter? Hasn't anyone ever heard of antifreeze, heaters and defrosters?

I've ordered a new coil resistor to replace that as some testing has indicated that may be the problem. We'll see. The problem no longer seems to be altitude related or even heat related. It's just one of those weird random things.

It is hard to believe that raising the hood a crack would have anything to do with a coil resister problem. I would at least try removing the air cleaner to see if the air flow may have some effect especially since you are not running an original type carb. I tried a modern type air cleaner element on my Stromberg 97 and it caused it to run too rich. Just a suggestion.

If replacing the coil resistor doesn't work I'll try removing the air cleaner next time the problem hits. It is the original oil bath air cleaner that I just cleaned so unlikely the problem but easy to take off next time and see if it helps.
