Default 36 speedo glass supplier??

Does anyone sell new glass fronts for the 35-36 speedo?

Got a mint speedometer but the glass has a couple of fine scratches.

Try buffing them out with toothpaste or polishing compound.

Convex lens... not quite as easy as having a piece of glass cut

This may be a long shot but, you possibly can get a convex lens from: Mark Palmquist 5033 Arbor Lane Litburn, Ga 30047 (770-923-8929). The downside is he makes them in plastic.

Thanks a lot guys, all input appreciated.

Had the speedometer itself rebuilt but despite them polishing the glass two light scratches remain and the OCD part of me cant let it go!

I have a spare with a few comparable scratches I will try the toothpaste trick on. I just had hoped a supplier had started selling them.

You might also try a Cape Cod Polishing Cloth.

36Bill, thanks for the link. Lots of neat stuff to fix clocks and glass for gauges.

I will post back with results once they are here.

Thought I would return here to close off on this thread.

The gauges were in fact rebuilt at Bob's speedometer but they were unable to do anything in relation to improving the glass. I found a company called Carters Clock Glass who hand made a brand new glass. Highly recommend them.

http://www.cartersclockglass.com/

Just send them the bezel and if you have it the old glass. It was like $40.

Also, I bought the convex glasses above in this thread but they were no good. SUPER thin, very different curvature although diameter was correct.

Might note that there were several manufacturers of 36 speedo and the glass does not interchange.

Thanks, didn't realize that. The good news is that these guys will take your existing one and replicate it.
