Default 1950 Ford F2 Brakes

I am going to start rebuilding the brakes on my 1950 Ford F2.. I was wondering if parts are hard to find for the F2... Going to need Wheel Cylinders and brake shoes.. Master seems to work and doesnt leak.. Wheel cylinders are stuck and wont move..

Try Joblot in New York - http://www.joblotauto.com/

I like your truck, but I am a bit biased. I have a 49 F-2.

I think you will find most of the common parts (brakes, wheel kits, U-joints, fluids, etc) at NAPA or your friendly local parts store can probably get them for you. If you get into suspension parts you may find Macs Auto or Speedway to be good sources. And if the old transmission requres work by all means contact Mac Van Pelt...the very best when it comes to transmissions. He has parts, will answer questions and has an outstanding booklet on how to overhaul the gear box. Great guy.

Good luck with the project.

You can find all the parts but the drums are hard to find and expensive. Be careful turning the old ones. Don't go too far. Joblot has new ones...slim

I have a 1950 F-3 and I have done all the brakes from the ground up including new stainless brake lines. The only thing I changed was the rear axle, it's out of a 1972 Ford f-250, so all of the brake parts on the rear are for the 1972.

Lucky for you I have documented almost all the Vendors and part #'s for the parts I have bought for the truck. If you want I can e-mail you the list. It might prove to be quite helpful because the parts are different for the 3/4 ton vs the 1/2 ton.

Great truck by the way.

Hi Randy,
Good sounding engine on the youtube video. Looks like you've got a pretty nice "pile" of tractors around as well. My dad's family came from Pipestone. Good luck with your brakes.....everything should be readily available.
