Default 1950 ford sedan hand brake cable/handle stuck fast

I am probably going to post quite a lot with this car. It arrived in the country 2 weeks ago but it was only released to me yesterday. It is booked in for the NZ compliance check in 2 days time, many problems arising.

The handbrake is stuck fast in the off position. I have established that the mechanism from the front cable back is all working fine. The handle seems to move slightly with a twisting motion but wont budge otherwise.

I am fairly sure it is the cable that is stuck. I have unbolted the handle mechanism but can not pull the cable through the fire wall so can not see any way of disconnecting the two.
If I can get the cable disconnected I will be able to get it elevated and run some lubricant through it.

How do I disconnect the cable?

Thanks
Geoff Kiwi

If I remember right, just pull the boot back and remove the clip, pull the cable back and tip it up and remove it. click on photo to enlarge

You might also want to pull the rear wheel brake drums and check out the E-brake cable operation.

Thanks Dick for the info and the photo, perfect just what I needed to know, I got it unhooked and from time to time during the day I trickled CRC into the cable. I think it was just dried up grease rather than rust jamming the cable, anyway it is working fine now.
