302 crankshaft balancer
I just acquired (3) 302 small block engines that are only partly there. None have a balancer on the crank. The engines are: '72, '74, '80 (determined by the casting numbers. How can I determine what balancer to get for any particular engine ? I want to use the 1980 one first. Are these engines internally balanced ?
Thanks, Bill

Re: 302 crankshaft balancer
Some full size Ford & Merc cars had serpentine belts with a standard rotation water pump first year was 1980,the 70 &72 balancers were the same length, it is possible to have a slightly longer 1980 balancer which means if you try to use earlier pulleys they will not line up.Here is some info you might want to read, scroll down to post #5:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ort+water+pump
