Default ignition switch change- to two post switch

Bought a 29 Model A and the boob who sold it to me broke off a key because he couldn't wait for his wife to find the "right" key. Looks like the switch is a repro. So I pulled the switch out of the dash and tied the wire that goes thru the center of the switch to the one on the side and got it running. Now I have this two pole switch from Mac's and need to know- can I just put one wire on one side and one on the other and the switch will jump them just as i did with my "jury-rigging" ? There is a wire for the dash light that will need to go back on one of the poles with the wire from the main harness? Thanks.

Is the switch turned on or off? I would assume it would be off and if so how can you get an off switch to "jump" unless you tied the two switch poles together somehow. I am confused.

I did not use the switch. I "jury-rigged" it.

I have that kind of switch on my PU. Works fine, if not a popout. Just wire the hot lead to one side and the one going to the dizzy to the other side. Should work fine

Yes, connect your wires to either of the poles.

If your new switch is the cheap model, be ready for it to drive you crazy when (not if) it starts to fail intermittently.

And make sure one of the switch terminals doesn't touch the fuel tank.

So Where does the wire go to that went thru the center of the cable to the switch and where does the other one go that was on a side post to the switch body ? The manual I have is in Greek.

The replacement switch should have two screws. Just install one one under each screw.

When you turn the key to on ,it's as if you connected the two wires together.

The wire that screws into the distributor should only be screwed in about 2 or 3 turns, otherwise it might push the strap into the body and ground it.
