Default How to keep the critters out ???

I will be putting th 41 out side under one of those instant / potable car covers ( you know you see them all around like a Qunset ) so that the 53 can come in and have new life put back in to her this winter.
What can I put in or around to discourage them there VERMENTS from wanting to come in to the stored Car ?

You can put a lot of sheets of "Bounce" drier sheets.
Keeps mice out of our cars and boats. Plus smells nice
come spring when you take them back out.

Good Luck

Irish Spring soap shavings are also supposed to work. Boat owners use them when storing their boats for the winter.

I wonder if you could somehow jack it up off the ground and use "rat guards" like in the Navy.

When stored outside under those shelters there is a lot of moister trapped inside. You should put something on the ground, like a tarp for a barrier. Keep the snow off because they have been known to collapse now and then. Chet/Ma.

I use Irish Spring Soap, Bounce Dryer Sheets, Moth Balls, Decon poison and have two cats that live outside most of the time.

Bill... there are what they call "Stickey Boards", they are about 5 X 10 , catches all the spiders and mice that dare to venture inside the car, also work in the shop or Garage .. JMO

I have a "Car Jacket" for my Chebby. It's like a clam shell- open it up, drive onto it, fold the cover over the car and zip it up. The car is kept in a garage that isn't very tight and there are a lot of the critters around. I usually put some mothballs around.
ALSO, try to get the car as tight as possible- places like vents, where the pedals and shifter come into the cabin, windows, trunk, etc.

Bill,
I use dryer sheets inside the cars, and good old fashion mouse traps in different areas. The new puppy gets into everything so I can't use poison until I leave for the south.

Mice follow pheromone trails of urine, they use them as little paths, they tend to not like standing in the open, if you glue trap surround the tires with boards.

I had to keep my 39 deluxe outside when I first got it, to keep the moisture from collecting, I kept two 40 watt light bulbs going in it all the time... Two, in case one burned out... Karl

Put 6 or more fresh Bounce sheets in the front and 6 or more in the rear seat. They work great for keeping the mice out, I have a garage full of mouse poop, no mice inside The thick plastic on the ground will help with the moisture.

You can get glue traps at Home Depot or Wal-Mart. A warning on these, they stick to EVERYTHING they touch, they will slide with the critters momentum. Keep the Glue Boards outside the car.

Tin-foil in all the open holes. Tail pipes etc...... It works great. The mice can not get through....................
