Question 35 Pickup Seat mounting

I need some help with mounting the seat back in my 35 pickup. The brace that the seat back hangs on, was removed from my truck and bent/broken. Reference photos would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'd help if I could, but I'm in the same boat. I don't see any form of mounting for the seat back

I don't fully understand your problem. The seat back does not hang on anything. It attaches to the seat cushion which sits on the riser. The two parts of the seat are joined by a hinge that is made up of a small plate that mounts on the under side of the bench frame and the long bar that goes the entire height of the seat back. The long bars on the seat back slip into rectangular slots in the cab brace that goes all around the sides and back of the cab, just under the rear window. If this does not clear things up for you both, let me know by email at [email protected] and I will send you a photo. Still don't have posting pictures here down pat and it takes me too long to figure it out. lol

hear is a photo of my seat from my 36 before i got it redone. the 2 pieces that are sticking up go into the rear brace of the cab, there are 2 slots in the back of the cab. if that is removed from your cab you may have other trouble

Thanks for the suggestions. My uprights appear to have been welded to the seat riser and not attached to the wooden base under the seat bottom. a couple photos of the set base and hinge detail mentioned above might get me on the right track.

I understand how the top of the back rest support works. I need the detail for how the supports for the seat back attach to the hinge on the wooden seat base. The hinges on the seat base are missing and the bottom of the support is broken off on my truck, so I'm flying blind

YES! starting with what YOU are working on!

Take some pictures of what you have now...what does the seat parts look like, what does the cab floor have mounted to it for a seat platform, show the back wall of the cab, etc.

Without standard part names we are all calling the various pieces by different names and its tough to get help when the guys are confused over what you have and don't have.

Here are the top and bottom of the rear bar anything in-between you will have to imagine.

Thanks All now I know how the seats were installed? I should have got that 35/36 Ford truck book. Brendan Could you post a pic of the plywood bottom with the three holes for adjusting the seat. I had no idea about the hinge part? Thanks Dave

In the picture of the cab, it appears that two braces are missing.

If you look real close you can see them ... they are tight to the cab and the same camo rust color

I love this thread and subscribed! My seat was replaced years ago with a different seat and this is a great resource for when I change it back!

So does the hinge allow the bottom of the seat to be raised from the front edge for under seat access?

NO! The seat must be pulled forward. (Big pain) and things must be put in from the back, at least that is what I find.

So the hinge does not really function since the back is secured to the cab ..... good to know .... thanks!
