Default Installing seat belts in a 28 roadster

I installed seat belts in my 28 roadster soon after I bought it in April. I took a few photos of the installation, but never got around to posting them until now. This installation was based on Les Andrews chapter in Model A Ford Mechanics Handbook Vol II, with some minor changes.

New belts installed

Belts installed under seat cushion

Under the car with the angle installed.

Close up of belt installed under the seat.

Close up of bolts and washers with angle. Note that the larger fender washers go on each side of the floor panel.

Close up of bolt, nut, washers and belt. My bolts are a size larger than Les Andrews specified in his article.

The installation you show is similar to the one on my '28 roadster. I also used the slotted angle metal, but put the outside belt bolts thru the frame holes. The installation guidelines were from a past article in one of the national magazines.

Milford,
We exchanged PM's in May regarding installing belts in a roadster and I'm pleased you finished the work. You were right, the '28 is different from the '31 so the mounting you had to come up with is different. You will feel a lot safer now.

Glen

Thanks, Glen. Not difficult once I got my brain around the problem at hand. I finished it up soon after we exchanged messages. I drove it to Hershey 10 days ago, a 250 mile round trip. I would not have done that without seatbelts!
