The Big Steal (1949). Pretty good movie. A couple chickens (crossing the road) were killed during one of the chase scenes.

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
Fifteen year old Bonita Granville beats up on this very unusual 1937 Ford Cabriolet with side-mounted spare tire in Nancy Drew, Detective (1938).
I don't like the way it looks; it breaks up the beautiful lines of the 1937 Ford. Note the aftermarket radio install in the last photo. 1937 Ford Cabriolet |

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
I've never seen a '37 Ford with a side mount spare tire but, I have seen spare tires with the same tread wear... I've had a few like that...

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
That '37 with a side mount, sure would get a lot of attention at a V8 meet. I wonder if it was factory or custom made in someone's garage. ?????

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
Many moons ago I knew a fellow that worked in Hollywood & they would make cars for certain movies. Some nice others whatever the director wanted.

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
Just discovered this interesting thread on Fords in the movies. I haven't read all the way through yet but has anybody mentioned the 53 Mercury convertible pulling that huge travel trailer in the movie "The Long Long Trailer"? One of my favourite oldies with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. I was always amazed how that old flathead pulled that trailer up those tremendous grades in the desert heat without a problem.

Why did Humphrey Bogart always drive Plymouth? He may have known something we don't!

Why did Humphrey Bogart always drive Plymouth? He may have known something we don't! Those were Warner Brother Studio cars. There were two of those Coupes--a 1938 and 1937--and they can be seen in many WB Films, including High Sierra and The Big Sleep. |
