Default Dist. advance question

I have been working on the final leg of finishing the motor for my 40 pickup. I am running an 3 carb manifold and can not find where to hook up the vaccum advance line from the dist. The motor is actually a 48 and the dist. has a port to use a hard line. Did the original go to a carburator ( I am using 94"s ) or to the manifold. If manifold I guess I will need to drill a hole in the Elderbrock manifold. Thanks.

Or have you distributor set up to function with the three carbs ( low vac) etc.
Can curve to not need the vacuum retard feature so add the vac ???
Crab distributor can be 22 degrees at 2500.........

The line went to the manifold vacuum. This controls the vacuum brake, not advance. The advance is centrifugal only.

Yes drill and tap a 1/8 NPT hole in the intake at a convenient place. Watch out for the exhaust heated areas.

Ron, would it be better to drill into the carb base say the center carb below the throttle plates maybe better than removing the manifold??

Yes, if you haave enough room. I drilled a hole in the center of the intake, put a 90 deg fitting on it and ran it to the dist. You could also put a spacer under the carb from an old gas heater. Probably a dozen ways to skin this cat.

Many, if not most, intake manifolds have a tap on the driver's side next to the third bolt from the front for the "snubber" distributor vacuum.

Thanks guys I drilled and tapped the front of the manifold and put a fitting right there where everyone can see it, pulled the front carb off to plug the intake from chips and it came out good. If anyone asks about the line going in I'll just say it's for the nitros
