Diver's Helmet distributor question
Messing about with a 41 Ford, and need to know how to get the inner caps off. Do they just slip into the dist body? Distributor is still in the car, so I can't really see if there are any screws holding them in.

Re: Diver's Helmet distributor question
They will swell over time, gently pry them out and grind them down a little so there is a good fit. .I use a bench disc grinder turning the cap all the time, checking as you go

Re: Diver's Helmet distributor question
Take the coil off the top and using a thin long drift put it through the coil hole right up the top of the inside of the cap and GENTLY tap it out with a small hammer.

Re: Diver's Helmet distributor question
We had to use this method on the 39 recently and it worked. I think it might have been a wooden dowel that we used. Don't want to crack that brittle old plastic.
