I started using barr's leak back in the 50s & never had a reason to use anything else. ~~Walts37~~

Re: Does Barr's Radiator Stop Leak reallly work
I always tell everyone that asks me about that stuff not to use it or any other kind of stop leak. The stop leak does not know where the hole is at and it sticks to everything causing your cooling system to be less efficient. This is not the problem you want to have on a flathead assuming that is what you have. Best thing would be to have it pressure tested and brazed or patched in some way.

I just used the aluminum with cooling additive variety for a weeping head gasket. It worked after driving for 20 minutes. If I have to clean everything out next summer, so be it. At least I can enjoy the next two months. As has been stated elsewhere, Cadillac
has been using it.

Re: Does Barr's Radiator Stop Leak reallly work
The nice thing about the aluminum powder is it stays in motion if there are no holes (leaks) to fill. The Barrs, while a good product will eventually settle in somewhere. Perhaps where it could cause cooling problems.
Cadillac started using a form of the aluminum powder back in the 1980's. They had a huge problem with intake manifold leaks. Unbeknown to Cadillac owners that visited the dealer for service, the technicians were advised to add a tablet (GM equivalent of the powder) to every model having these engines regardless of the reason the car was in the shop. |

Bars is great stuff. Never had any problem with it, and it really works well. If you have a cooling system that is running hot all the time, then fix it. If not hot and you have a leak, go for the Bars.

I poured some in this that has been sitting since 54 and it stopped the pin hole leaks. Slowly poured it in with water running in. Tank half full, worked great

I had a Mustang with 3.8 V6 engine. It developed a leak between the aluminum water pump housing and the cast iron block.Bars leak fixed what would have been a verrrry costly repair!

GM, who posts on the V8 Section, showed a photo, on how the aluminum Barrs, had actually polished the inside of his radiator.
When using the pellet Barrs, it should be disolved in hot water, before putting it into your radiator. MIKE |

Re: Does Barr's Radiator Stop Leak reallly work
Barr leak does work but as lots say plugs a lot of things that don't need pluging. I use cinnamon or pepper seems to seal the leak and not plug things up, kinda cheap too usuallly in the kitchen! Laurie

Yes it works. I used it on a 2006 ford explorer that had a radiator leak. Replacing the radiator required evac, disconnect and recharge the ac, flush the transmission fluid and of course replace the radiator... very expensive repair. Bars leaks was $3.79 works great.
