Are 36 Ford 3 window and cabriolet front seats the same?

Hi Fellows,
Is the stock front seat in a cabriolet the same as the same for a three window coupe for 1936 Fords?

I'm curious also. I have a 3 window project that came without seats & I am going to need to find one in the future. Bill

I checked in the 33-34 EFV8 restoration manual, and as for as Cabriolets and 3Ws of those years are concerned , they have slightly different dimensions. I own one of each and actually can feel the difference. I would suggests having someone look in the 35-36 book body specification section.

Thanks for all the help. I managed to get the front seat out of my cabriolet and right on the bottom of the seat pan, written in yellow marker, is words to the effect that the seat is for a three or five window coupe. I was suspicious from the start because the back of the seat does not flip up as I thought my last cabriolet did. I'm going to look at it more closely when I get time and the weather is cooperating!

The seat fit the car well and looked like it belonged there so who knows?!? I'll try to share some pics when I get to it.

That seat sounds like it is a '35 NOT a '36. I could be wrong but every 1936 cabriolet (non-clubs), seat I have seen flips up. The '35s don't.

I know this is a few days old but I was reading my 35/36 Early Ford V8 Club book and found this.

There were differences in seat assemblies on 35 and 36 Coups and Cabriolets. 35 assemblies had a stationary back and a tall seat assembly.The height of the 35 seats were 30 1/2" up the back of the side panel assembly. The 36 Cabriolet measured the same as the 35 seats @ 30 1/2" tall but there was difference in the backrest cushion as it flipped upward on hinges to access the trunk area. The 36 3 and 5 Window Coupe seat assemblies only measured 27 1/4" up the back of the side panel assembly ,and also had the backrest cushion that flipped up on hinges to access the trunk area.

There you have it , 36 Cabriolet is different from 36 3w and 5w by 3 1/4" in height
