Re: strange serial number
I agree, sure looks like "BB18-1426579" to me. The engine-transmission serial number indicates a late January 1935 completion, so a Model 51 truck of some sort.

Re: strange serial number
The BB designation was a truck designation but it also designated a 4-speed transmission if installed in a 1/2-ton pickup or a larger truck.

Re: strange serial number
Re strikers: Ford used several different sized strikers, the one from your truck is the 1935-39 "short door" used on pickup, 5 window, and fordor (it was also used late 1931-34).
The repro striker is for a "long door" 3 window or tudor sedan. Note in 1937-38 there was a variation of the striker that was rubber cored and sheetmetal clad. Not one of Ford's better ideas. Re title: It was common practice until the mid 1930's for some agencies responsible for issuing the title to do so based on when the title was issued as the concept of "Model Year" was in its infancy. It is conceivable to me that if the title application was made on December 31 a 1935 model could receive a 1934 title. |
