Default 1938 horns

Does anyone know someone that repairs Ford horns? my left one blows weak ,when I disconnect the right one, then the left one works fine...the right one won't blow , they have power going to them,,,Anyone repair them? Thanks

Are you sure it is the horns and not the wiring? Sounds like they work ok if powered separately. Do you have original wiring?

The 38 should use a horn relay (per the wiring diagram). I would make up a jumper wire that Ys right where it connects to the horns and temporally touch the other (single) end of the wire straight to the battery side of the starter solenoid and see if they both work ok. If so, it could be the wiring or the horn relay that is the issue.

I believe some of these horns can be worked on, slight adjustments and cleaning the points.

I had the same problem with the horns in my '37. Turned out to be a high resistance connection in the horn wiring circuit. Was able to resolve the problem by cleaning and soldering all of the bullet connectors in the horn wiring....

The vibrator coil may have a problem internally. If you pop the cap off, you can check condition of the coil and the points. The vibrators are pretty reliable unless they get all rusted up for some reason.

File the points and make a good connection and 99% chance of beeping OK.
