Default 37 hood sides fitment

I have a friend who recently acquired this 37 coupe with a 390 wedged under the hood. He would like to install the hood sides but they are not fitting. When the sides are placed in the opening it looks as if the grille needs to move forward. The hood aligns nice with the grille where it is. I only took one picture of the area in hopes that someone can post a picture with all the correct hardware so we can see what he is missing.
BTW the fenders are glass and not sure if that is the culprit.

I don't have a '37, but on my '38 the grill/hood sides attach to the radiator and the radiator is positioned by two rods to the firewall. I see a rod across the grill top, and hazard a guess that it has the grill too narrow. I don't know how much clearance is needed, but suspect making the grill wider at the top will help some.

Here are some pictures of the passenger side (right side) hood side on my '37. I'm guessing that your glass fenders may be the problem. Are the hood sides acting as though they are too tall when you try to install them?

Never got far enough to try and close hood, it was looking as though the sides were too long. As 40cpe mentioned I'm thinking the missing center brace and correct radiator might aid in the problem

Just this spring I re-assembled the 37's radiator after cleaning/repair work, (all original) thought maybe extra thick body gaskets would be nice and comfy under the radiator, to sit on. Later though after the grille was back on I found out how critical the radiator height was in the fitment of the side panels, and hood height. So had to remove the thick gaskets for original thinner ones.

Wrong radiator and the glass fenders are the problem. The grille and side pieces attach to the radiator, which is a critical component to aligning the front sheetmetal. The sides were originally designed to sit in the thin edge of the steel fender(with welting between the side and the fender), not the thick edge of a glass fender.
