I am looking too. I'd be interested in the range or prices knowing that it depends on the condition - just looking for a ball park figure.

I had the same experience a CJ Meyers, sent my 1936 Banjo to Dennis at Quality Restorations. Expensive but definitely worth it - excellent results.

Don Eashe did mine also. Turned out great.
Steering wheel restoration is not inexpensive.

To recast just the 51 Mercury steering wheel ( shown above) was $1000 about 5 years ago.

Prices of other makes may vary. Re: a 1940 Ford steering wheel it will be cheaper to buy a reproduction and paint it yourself .

These folks restore steering wheels at a very fair price.

I used a wheel from Vintique and custom painted the hub only for this job. The black finish was very nice out of the box.

19Fordy, the diameter of the stock Vintique wheel is 17" just like the original. They do make a smaller one for street rods also.Dollar for dollar I would prefer a nice repo wheel over a repaired original any day.

I have a Vintique 40 wheel on my F1. Looked nice until last winter when the outer ring cracked in the middle and a gap appeared. Now that it is cracked I can see that the inner metal ring is separated from the outer plastic or the plastic shrunk away from the metal. So the plastic ring moves and is annoying when going around a corner and my hand gets scratched when it finds the edge of the plastic at the gap. To fix it the inner metal ring needs to be secured to the outer plastic before filling the gap. Ugh
