1930 Pickup Cab Restoration!
Are you guys sick of me yet ?! Well if not here is another project that will soon be started in the shop for a fellow ford barn member Mike !
there is some bondo abuse in the doors no body line on the back of the cab a little rough around the edges

Wow! What the heck did they do to the inside rear of the cab? Mine had some "additional ventilation" in it that needed repairs.

Never will "get sick" of your postings. Has been very interesting. Can't wait to see your taking on the roof panels over the doors even though they are covered by roof material. Doing a '30 CC now though all the metal work is done.

thanks everyone ! work should be starting soon . i think this one is going to head to the blaster first due to alot of bondo and kinda rusty parts .
Farrell its a mixture of bondo and rust it seems . if those roof panels go to hell after the blast I think the easiest option is going to be making them ! thanks again everyone !

Hey Flop, how does the cowland fire wall look on Mike's cab...........I only had twenty non-factory hole in this one. The trucks always seem to have more holes than the cars. At first I thought this drivers post had been shot at. Once the outer metal was cut away, it looked like someone went to work with a pickaxe.

Just another thought!
If you think that there is a remote possibility of you making them, you might consider making outer side and top templates and radius patterns BEFORE you take them off the woodwork. This is the voice of experience talking, LOL. I would also take a long look at doing what ever it took to keep that contour above the doors until the 'new' panels are made. It will be invaluable when it gets time to fit the wood header in a manner that both fits the roof and the door jamb. Trying to fit reproduction wood roof headers to home made or reproduction roof panels will give you a different perspective at some point in time. I have done this three times, and would give strong consideration to finding better original panels, even thought I know that is a difficult acquisition. Just a thought!

Brattons sells those roof panels , I used them on my pickup, they were preety good for contour and shape, but I still had to drill the holes in them.

farrell this one is pretty good no signs of hacking or excessive hole drilling !
wonder what they were thinking on that A pillar? all very good tips rockhillwill!! thats a mouthful! already have taken the patterns just in case we cant find repairable orig pieces . interesting juke joint i had a friend use them and said the complete opposite! this ones gonna be a fighter . started stripping her down getting ready for the blaster found out why the body line was gone door top brazed on garnish moulding also brazed on every screw had to be drilled out or had to have a nut welded to it well gonna get some little things off the cab today and hopefully hit the blasters soon!!

I too have tried a couple sets of those panels and while they can be made to fit correctly, it does however take some work in an English wheel and a pnuematic planishing hammer. Then using a slitter in the Pullmax is nice to make the elongated holes. I concur with Will in finding original units to replace yours or repairing what you have.

seems that way juke joint!! well a little more disassembly visor off ! looks like a mouse and some spiders found a home here! this one has me confused... getting closer!
