Thanks Mike, It was my Mom and Dads honeymoon car, so it has special memories for our family. Now I have a couple of rough rear fenders to repair next. Paul

The sheetmetal was a challenge to line up, Thanks to John and Tom and Roy and many others on this site, I got it close enough for me. As to the rest of the car it's got a 53 merc mostly stock, bored, heads cleaned up,carb from a 283 chev, 12 volt, and a moon roof in place of the tar top, otherwise looks stock. Thanks

I'm fairly close to putting the front end on my 35 coupe as well. Any tricks you can tell me? I've heard that you bolt the front end togetehr and then hang the whole thing on the car at once. Is that how you did it? Peder |

Peder-
I am sure Paul can add some comments from his experience but let me pass on what I do. The big problem with a '35's front end is the grille. It is not only tapered but the sides of the grille are flared out. It is difficult to install the grille with both fenders in place without causing a lot of paint scraping and/or bending a lot of radiator fins. What I do is to assemble the front end by starting on one side of the car, That includes the inner fender, fender support and the fender. I have things fully assembled and bolted tight but not so tight that I can't shift things slightly. Next, I add the grille (with the front radiator pan installed behind the grille). Lastly, I bolt on the remaining opposite side meaning, inner fender, fender support and finally the fender then the hood. By doing it this way all the bolts, welting and hardware are very accessible and it can be done as a one-man operation. I have tried several different ways but this seems the best way to do it without running the risk of incurring any paint damage. Hope this helps. Tom |
