Default Generator Stud and Nut Question

Hi,

I am mounting my generator to the front of my manifold using the 9/16" stud and special long nut arrangement. When I took it apart there was no lock washer in my bag. Is one supposed to be used or desired? Also plan to use anti-seize on the threads since I had a tough time getting it off the stud. A few pics below off ebay, and green book. Looks to me that no LW is used on the 42 up generator mounting.

Just as a side note on spring washers. Caterpiller do not use them.
It has been proven that they can cause failures before a properly torqued nut (without a spring washer)fails.

The magic of diesel vibration. For those that don't know, it's extreme and it's relentless

This summer I had one come loose. I had no lock washer on it, like stock. I fixed what got broke, and drilled the nut for some safety wire, tying it back to the generator mount.

I would say DO NOT use anti-seize on the threads.

I have also been told that spring washers can eventually fail under load. I use a 1/4 in. round steel spacer on top of the square washer so as to make it easier to align and "really tighten" the big nut. 20 years and no problems yet (knock on wood).
