Default Auxiliary Gauges

Believe it or not it's raining in SoCal today. Sitting around reading Tom Endy's Tech Tips. Just read one on temperature gauges. Now I'm thinking of installing an auxiliary water temperature gauge in my TS. Just wondering how many of you have one.

I do have a temperature gauge on my engine but it's a little hard to see while driving. Whenever I do check it after a run it is ~185°F.

Reading ambient in this picture.

I have one and wouldn't ever tour in a car without one. It lets you know when or if there's a problem before it's too late and done damage. I have mine on my steering column and it sits right on 160 in the winter (thermostat) and 170 in the summer.

I have one in all of my cars (not the same one!!!) and when towing a camper trailer around Oz recently, on a hot day, I had to drive by the temp gauge, sometimes changing down and running higher revs at less throttle to keep it from boiling. Wouldn't be without one.

Carl, good choice on the gauges. Nearly full sweep on both, and a low rpm tach for more accuracy. Where did you get that cool water neck setup?

I got a temp gauge in my roadster, when I first put it in, after I drove it about 10 miles it did not move. I put in a 160deg t stat and dose not get above 170 on a hot day

I run a temp gauge in all the cars. Great read on what is happening on tour. I like the gauge holder that goes on the steering column. Holds a two inch gauge very nicely.

Thanks for all your responses. I just bought this SunPro gauge on e-Pay. New in package, $10+ shipping.

Now to decide on a mount. I like the one Carl or John has but only need for one gauge.

Put an oil pressure gauge, tach, or even a clock in the other side. Also, Berts does sell a single like double I have.

I was able to find this SW gauge at NAPA. I really like using a temp gauge especially in the summer months. I like the old school look of the face.

I know they're not historically accurate, but I like the looks of Auto Meter's Antique Beige gauges. disclaimer: I don't have any installed, but was thinking of getting one of these:

Where do I stop??

Actually these are the style of gauge I was considering for my '55 Ranchwagon altho I used pictures of gauges with scales more appropriate for a Model A. Check out the GPS Speedo.

You still need an odometer, and you might as well add an hour meter.
