Default 36 oil pan removal

Happy New Year Barners! I have a 36 Ford with the stock V8. I noticed some sludge in the oil drain plug and want to drop the pan and clean it. Any tips? Will I have to remove the drag link?

Thanks, Tim

I removed the Sump Pan from my 34 without removing the engine. Firstly, I jacked up the car to give me some movement, then I undid the Radius Rods at the Ball, & pulled them down & put a Packer in to keep them separated. It is still a tight fit, but I managed. While you have it off, remove the Freeze Plugs & clean out the gunk by pushing a Screw Driver or similar up each of the 4 plug holes. You will be amazed at the rubbish that gets trapped in the block, & this is the perfect time to clean it out, as you can't do this with the Sump in Place.
