Intake Manifold Color
Can anyone tell me the color that the intake manifold should be? On my 30 Standard Roadster it is black, but pretty worn. I have recently see a few pictures where some have this painted the engine green. As I reassemble, this is the time to paint. Help with the answer???
Also I have seen that Les Andrews discusses soaking the Zenith carb in ammonia, but cautions not to leave for more than 3 days or the brass parts will start to erode. Is this soak something that would be helpful for an assembled carberator? Or only for a body with all jets and components removed. Thanks. |

Re: Intake Manifold Color
Ford engine green.
I would soak the carburetor body in caustic or solvent in an ultrasonic bath. |

Re: Intake Manifold Color
thanks Brent. Looks like I will paint green to be ready to assemble this weekend.
What would you suggest for solvent, something like Acetone or MEK? Rich |

Re: Intake Manifold Color
Thanks, I have been to that Orange County site many times. It is both good and bad, how we have learned that the easiest answer to many questions is to just question those of us on the Ford Barn, rather than go look for the answers ourselves. I find you guys invaluable.
I will do the soak with laquer thinner, since this has sat for a long time. Hopefully I won't need to get into the full rebuild of the carb. Thanks again! |
