Re: Is it a sickness??
Yeah, I do as well. I have to say I have found some great bargains that way. Some parts are rare and will be gone quickly if you wait.

Re: Is it a sickness??
Yep, completely fubared in the head . . . have been since I got under our 1959 Ford station wagon at about 7 years old and put the starter back in (Dad was at work). He'd purchased a rebuilt one at NAPA and it was on the workbench - didn't have time to install it. I decided to install it while he was at work. I remember it was all I could do to get it onto my chest, slide under the car and lift it into place . . . was darn heavy for my age!
Dad came home later and I followed him out to the garage - he started looking for the starter (totally confused) . . . finally looked in the engine bay and there it was (installed). He was flabbergasted - finally he looked at me (and I wasn't saying a damn thing) and said "Dale . . . did you put that starter in there???". I meekly said "Yes" (sure I might be in trouble) . . . so he crawled under the car tightened the bolts up a bit more and said "You did a good job!". That was the start . . . and it has only gotten worse with age! LOL |

Re: Is it a sickness??
Yep been a gear head since I was about 10 years old. Warned my wife before we got married. 58 years later she's still around and enjoys the cars and the people. I check all the car sites every day. It's definitely an addiction.

Re: Is it a sickness??
If it's not, you probably will fade off into the next thing.
I've bought this dvd multiple times as everytime I give it to motorheads, I never get it back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mioo4mXutM Last edited by Tinker; 06-02-2022 at 12:48 AM. |

I check all my listings at least 3 times daily. Have scored some good deals by being the first responder to a ad.

Re: Is it a sickness??
Little stupid story about my 36. I was looking for one for years. Found one in my price range that was posted very late at night on the hamb. I waited till 8am ohio time to call. I was answered, with a hey I've been up till 6am. Fair price so I put a 1k deposit down and hit the road that day to get it site unseen and a knowledge I might lose 1k. Fl to ohio was 53 hrs straight round trip including a 5 hr sleep in a motel. When I got there i was told he was bitched out for selling it as listed and wouldn't sell it out from under me if they offered more money. He laughed about how they cursed him out. He had bought the 5 window to build with his sons, but found a 3 window after.
Crazy world...it is a sickness and maybe cheaper then drugs. Maybe Last edited by Tinker; 06-02-2022 at 03:00 AM. |
