Re: Model A commercial vehicles picture thread!!
John,
The picture you posted in post #68 is not of a GAZ truck, it is in fact the first production vehicle, (a AA) to roll off the assembly line at the Dagenham UK plant Oct 1931. Regards Brian T. |

This is a Swiss truck, vice Danish.

The Model A in this picture and the original photo are from Switzerland (not Denmark). Both this photo and the vehicle belong to Marcus Maurer! He states that the truck was made by a Swiss company Peter & Co AG from Liestal who made the wheelbase enlargement (which is 30 cm longer than original). Wilhelm Frey Wagenbau, also from Liestal, made the wooden cabin and also the bed. More information on this truck and it's restoration can be found on Marcus' web site at the following link: http://www.maurer-markus.ch/ford_a/f..._daten.en.html Here is another photo from his web site with the truck before he started restoring it: Fordially, Brad in Germany |

Re: Model A commercial vehicles picture thread!!
Photo history #51, page 3...
The photo is that of Ezra Meeker, who was 98 years of age at the time. Ford Motor Company presented the 1928 AA Ford to Meeker as he was planing his 6th trip across the American (USA) continent to once again call the attention to the Old Oregon Trail. Three (3) trips were by ox team (first in 1852), 1 by motor car and 1 by airplane. (Ford News, Vol. 8, #22) The vehicle seen in #51 was dubed the "oxmobile" and it was set up so as he could cook and sleep as well as travel in his "Ford covered wagon". It was understood that Henry Ford expressed an interest in the "oxmobile" when Meeker completed the trip and it was to be placed in Henry Ford's American Museum in Greenfield Village. However the Oregon Trail Memorial Association also wanted it. However before Meeker could make the trip, he passed away. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE "OXMOBILE"? That is a good question. Neither the Ford Museum nor the Oregon Trail Memorial Association has it nor is there any more known information on the vehicle. Anybody know the rest of the story? Pluck |

Not a commercial body style, but I think this qualifies as a commercial vehicle.

Re: Model A commercial vehicles picture thread!!
Luke, do you have any idea where the Pael Delivery image was taken? I tried to zoom in to read the plate, but I can't make it out; I do notice, however, that there seems to be an exhaust extension sticking out between the left fender and the tail lamp. Wonder why?
Another nice example of a custom commercial paint job, with light paint on the fenders, hedlamp shells, etc. |

Re: Model A commercial vehicles picture thread!!
John,
I enlarged it with Picasa photo viewer and from what I can see the plate says Colorado. That tail pipe is interesting isn't it! |

Re: Model A commercial vehicles picture thread!!
John Alinder's original 1929 PU with a fuel tank on the back. I took this picture a few years ago at the Twin Cities Ford Plant when we got to drive our Model A on the final assembly line. Most of our clubs A's were built in this plant. |
