Gee, we have cruises every night here at different places. Most places have a cruise on a certain night every week. The cities are pretty receptive to them and several local cities even have yearly shows where they block off some of the streets. The local Quaker Steak and Lube has several hundred cars every week. All Summer and Fall we have something within 20mi. going on every night. Usually a mixture of antique, old and new muscle cars and hotrods.

In the late 60's I worked in a gas station. We did all the fluid checking, checked tire pressure, washed windows etc. I worked after school and on weekends. Some Saturdays and Sundays I worked 10 to 12 hour shifts to make money for my Model A and for college. No matter how tired you were you had to be polite, offer service and pump gas no matter what the weather was.

Those cars would drive over the hose and the bell would go off. As "lookin' back Texas" stated, finding the gas cap was a challenge on some vehicles. Many of the vehicles of that era had gas caps behind the license plates. I wonder if my cheerfulness then and my ADHD characteristics now are due to the fumes that permeated the air while filling a tank.
