Re: 56 Ford Y-Block powered "Gasser" build
Disc brake kit has arrived. The front springs on on the way from Eaton Detroit Spring. Disc kit came from Speedway. I'm using original '51 Chevy spindles on the axle so I am having to have some machine work done in order for the bearings to fit properly. A local shop is working on them now. Once the spacer is welded in place I can assemble the brakes on the axle and then install the new wheels and tires. Can't wait to see it all together. The local rod shop I'm hoping will start on cutting off the frame rails next week. I'm out of town next week heading up to Boise Idaho, anyone here from the Boise area?

The front leaf springs just arrived from Eaton Detroit Spring Co. Very nice and made in the USA.

Re: 56 Ford Y-Block powered "Gasser" build
We just had a front tank donated to the build. Its a vintage piece off an old drag car. We'll have to make a few changes but its darn cool.

It is a dual plane cross "H" with an "equilizing" slot. No exhaust crossover.

Re: 56 Ford Y-Block powered "Gasser" build
I just heard from Towel City Tires and they will be sponsoring us the Pie Crust Cheater Slicks for the Monster. Can't wait to get them in hand and mounted up on our American Rebel Wheels. So happy to have them on board this build.

The final engine build will start very soon and we are getting the frame up on the rack, hopefully this weekend to begin the suspension build. Should have more updates soon.

Re: 56 Ford Y-Block powered "Gasser" build
Super excited to announce MSD Performance as our newest sponsor for The Canned Monster gasser build. They gave us the whole ignition system, MSD 6AL box, Y-Block Billet distributor, black plug wires and a performance coil. Even threw in a black cap so it looks more period correct. MSD Performance

Re: 56 Ford Y-Block powered "Gasser" build
Got the disc brakes put together finally. Used a pair of original '51 chevy to start with and had to machine them to take the discs. After two trips to the machine shop they go them right and the bearings fit. The bigger news is the car is now in Ventura at JG Design & Fabrication. They will be handling the suspension build both front and rear. Looking forward to working with Justin and the gang. Lots of progress pics to come very soon.
