Carburetor weeping from behind data plate and throat. I have gotten sediment bowel leak down to less than a teaspoon in a 24 hr period.
Have cleaned carb and had tank cleaned and sealed. The neddle and seat have been replaced and have sealed seat threads. Have checked float for leak and set float level. The problem goes away when running( have about a 1/4 turn on adjustment from lean to rich). After driving to takes about two hrs for weeping to appear. Where is weeping coming from and how is it making its way behind the data plate. Thanks Gerorge |

Pourous cast iron! Make sure you always turn the gas off when parking, even at the gas station. ws

A slow drip from the carburetor on a T is very common. That is why most T's have a fuel shut-Off valve installed ahead of the carburetor. If parked for more than an hour or two, the fuel is shut off to the carburetor.

The bowl vent is under the tag. Could just be sloshing in the bowl. Did you put the gasket under the needle seat? Could be that the needle is just off enough to allow a slow weep or the float needs to be bent down just a bit more or maybe there's a small crack in the casting.

Cracks in a carb body can be easy to miss.

One place to look for a crack in an NH is where the inlet screws into the body.

Thanks for all the help. The carb was letting gas for the sediment leak. I installed a gas line shut off and the problem stoped. One would think the
needle value would have held a small weep. Thanks George |

Shes a sweety for sure! I always keep a gremlin under the hood to tap on the carb with a wrench if she starts leaking... actually when my wife climbs out its her job to close the valve. She spouts out "GAS OFF"... what a pit crew ! ws
