I recently completely stripped my '36 3-window down to bare frame and every nut & bolt part off the body. I don't recall seeing that piece.

I am quite sure that the part is the retainer for the 'rear exhaust bearing' on a '35-36 Ford.. Most mechanics discarded this part because it was found that rear exhaust bearings, like a persons tonsils, served no purpose...

My first guess would be the door check strap plate, but can't tell size of part in picture.

It is about 4 inches long and two inches wide. It came off of a 36 woodie.

See the little scale on the top?
It is in Milimeters That, my friend, is a metric crescent wrench! ![]() I think a standard one would be best for a 36 ford! ![]() |

I had one of those once. I think it was called a quabble plate for the muffler bearing. It is held on with left hand thread bolts.
