I just changed from a cast to an aluminum intake on my 21 stud engine in my 37 pickup.
The aluminum intake is shorter at the fuel pump mount so I purchase the shorter rod to compensate. Well it didn't pump any fuel. So after inspecting it I see the small shield is not in the same location and wont let the rod go down far enough to engage the cam lobe that actuates the rod. I looked up the different rods offered for each intake including the V8 60 and they only list one for the cast intake and the one for the aluminum intake that is listed as one inch shorter. This rod does appear to be one inch shorter but the shield seems to be in the wrong location for the rod to work properly. Am I missing something or is this repo rod just not correct. |

The 2 rods, one is 7-7/8 and the other is 8-7/8, the 60 hp rod is quite alot shorter, I have one out in my shop I could measure tomorrow. Walt

barnfind08, do you have NOS of both lengths with umbrella? May buy a couple of each and have you ship along with TO bearings I plan to order. Wish I had a list of all the parts you have 4 sale.

The small umbrella on all the stock rods he had be it cast or aluminum intake ones were all the same. Only difference was the length. Looks like the repo is made wrong and will be going back. Thanks for all the help fellas. |
