Thanks to the F.B. I finally have the rear of the hood adjusted that the hood trimand the cowl trim are in line .I have also done my 41 ford and my 46 ford. This has been driving me crazy for years.A thread about a week ago explained how to do it.Who would have guessed that raising the hinge would lower the hood and move it back to close the gap.It took about 15 mins. The car looks so much better with the trim strips in line. THANKS FORD BARN !!!!Phil

I'm gonna have to read that thread. My '46 merc hood stays open 1/2" on the back.

46,It is so simple ,just mark the location of the hinge[I used a white china marker] loosen the [2] 1/4" screws while holding the hood open with a broom stick with a towl between the hood and the cowl, raise the hinge about 1/4" and tighten screws.I did one side at a time. You will be amazed!!If you examine the linkage you will see why it works.Phil

I was sent an article ages ago on adjusting the hood on these cars. I've got it saved. I sometimes involves realignment of the rest of the front sheet metal as well and it tells you the order to do that.
Anyone want a copy of it e-mail me on gmb48v8@xtra.co.nz GB
