valve cover gasket "glue"
I know this question has probably been asked before, but what silicone product works best on valve cover gaskets? I don't need them falling off during installation .

Re: valve cover gasket "glue"
What are you working as in does the cover need to be removed periodically for valve adjustment?

Re: valve cover gasket "glue"
I have purchased a pair of T-bird covers which should spiffy-up the engine compartment.

Re: valve cover gasket "glue"
I use RTV on the valve cover. I apply a thin coat on the cover, apply the gasket and then turn the cover over and let it set. No problems removing and reinstalling
And when it becomes time to use a new gasket, the old one usually comes off in one piece.

RTV GASKET MAKER MISTAKES - https://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.co...aker-mistakes/ Permatex® High Tack® Spray-A-Gasket® Sealant - 80065 12 OZ https://www.permatex.com/products/ga...sealant-12-oz/ Are the rocker covers OEM or REPRO? What type of gaskets came with them if any? You know they require a longer hold-down stud and different oil grommet then stamped steel?

Re: valve cover gasket "glue"
BUT IT WORKS and the advantage is that you can peel off the gasket in one piece when needed
[QUOTE=KULTULZ;2291857]RTV is a gasket maker, not an adhesive ...

Re: valve cover gasket "glue"
The covers are OEM ; I am well aware of the need for longer studs and have ordered a kit from Concours Parts which includes studs, gaskets, grommets, washers and acorn nuts.

Re: valve cover gasket "glue"
When I was racing my Boss 302 the valve cover gaskets were rubber/cork. A small amount of Permatex was applied to the head surface, the gasket positioned, a light coat of white grease applied to the valve cover and torqued down. This arrangement kept the gasket from sticking to the valve cover, kept it in place with the cover off and had no leaks when in place when running. I even used this arrangement after putting the car back in "street trim".
