Early '35 window whiskers?
My '35 5W suffered an amateur restoration back in the 70's and it appears many parts never got reinstalled. It's an early car -- forward door handle mount -- and it needs the whisker/scraper assembly that guides the INSIDE of the door glass. Does anyone have a pic of this part? Or better yet, a pair they'd cut loose? My brother has a '36 5W and his window channels/tracks don't look anything like mine.
Thanks

Thanks, I'm familiar with Steele. I don't need the entire 300 dollar window channel set. I just need the two inboard whiskers... but I don't know what they look like or how they install. Evidently Ford changed them up a few times across the '35 and '36 cars.

Re: Early '35 window whiskers?
I have previously purchased off of Steele, straight fuzzy strips that can be configured and bent to suit any application. I have a 35 Fordor sedan, how else do you get the fuzzies around the rear quarter windows than by making them?
Some suppliers of fuzzies supply fuzzies that are impossible to bend into the configuration you want; they tend to kink. i can vouch for the fuzzies that Steele sell; very pliable. good luck.

Re: Early '35 window whiskers?
Originally those fuzzies 'clipped' onto the window reveals....I simply screw them on using little self tapping screws

Thought the fuzzy strips were a '36 deal, go all around opening. On several '33 hotrods; instead of the original bumpers, I got universal fuzzy strip from the trim shop and used small screws to attach them to the garnish and inner door panels. The strips are similar to the beltline weather strips in the above Steele link; but it came in 8' lengths. That would probably work for what you want to do. |

Yes 35 is rubber bumpers. Two different styles. Do you have the long oblong holes ?

Re: Early '35 window whiskers?
Note also on the OP's photos, the single sided felt on the outside has a chrome/stainless bead. Obvious later installation by a glass shop. (Not that there is anything "wrong" with that modification, but it does cause confusion when "correct" reproduction parts do not match!)

Re: Early '35 window whiskers?
Forgive me for not getting right back, we’ve had some weather issues here. I’ll try to get in and see which of the bumper styles this would take — if either. It’s not obvious from just looking into the slot.

Yes there are seven oblong holes just below the lip of the window garnish. They're approx 3/8 x 3/4 inch; one toward the front, a group of three in the center, and another group of three toward the rear. Note that the window garnish mounting screws protrude into some of these holes and would block the insertion of any little bumper. Am I looking in the right place? There are also two round holes, about 1/2" diameter, each about 2 3/4" below the garnish in the inner door sheet metal. I'm starting to think about it might be easiest buying a length of whisker (with the stainless bead) and just drilling and screwing it to the lip of the garnish.
