I have a35 pu
I want to take a steering column outof a 39 frame do I use that mounting bracket also how much shorter does colum have to be

Use the 39 bracket if its right hand use the 35 one ,1935 is 46" ,a 40 shaft is 49" not sure of 39 ,

The bolt pattern on the 35 and 39 steering column brackets where they bolt up to the frame are different. The 35 and 39 steering column drops where they attach inside the cab are not the same with the ignition switch being somewhat different as a result. You did not say if the 39 steering column is out of a pickup or a passenger car. I don't know anything about 39 passenger cars, but the 35 passenger cars and pickups have different steering column tubes since the ignition column locks are not the same distance from the steering wheel.
