Default Early Ford Shifter Lever Right Hand Drive ??

City: Windsor
State: CA
Price: $50.00

Hello , I have a very nice re-chromed shifter .Chrome is new . I bought this at a swap meet and when I brought it home and tried it , it was hitting the steering wheel on both my 32 and my 39 . It looks to me like it would be for a Right Hand Drive car . I know I could bend it with some heat but am worried about ruining the chrome .It is 28" end to end measuring straight . I also think there maybe the perfect car out there for it ? I only know what I have told you about it . Check the pics , and let me know if I can measure anything else.
Thanks , Mike 707 217 8751

Mike,

The difference between LHD and RHD shift levers is their orientation from the vertical; The LHD lever slightly to the left and the RHD lever slightly to the right. So your lever is not for a RHD vehicle. The bends in your lever do not conform to either of Ford's reverse curve levers ('35 or '39), so it would seem that the problem was created when someone bent this lever before plating it.

Thanks for the help DavidG . I think if someone was building a Hot Rod style car and wanted it RHD then this shifter would work . I put it in my 39 and sat in the Pass side and pretended . It worked well .
Thanks , Mike
