Default 65 Galaxie 500 rear brakes

Let me start by saying Merry Christmas!!!

I bought my daughter a 65 Galaxie as her first car. I've been going thru the brake system. Replaced master cylinder and cleaned up front brakes (look like new). The issue is the rear brakes. They are missing the e brake arms and the dog leg that goes between the shoes under the wheel cylinders. Not sure what rear it is (looks like a 9" but may be a 8" ... No tag on it). Any ideas on what newer cars that might still be in my local scrap yard that would work or does anyone know where to get these hard parts? My daughter will behind the wheel of this car; not me so I'M NOT "EXPERIMENTING" with this car! Thanks in advance for any input.

I believe you can buy these parts at your local auto parts store, if not local auto parts store can tell you what yrs.wil interchange. By the way to me that is a nice car to start with.

Thank you for the info that it is a 9" darrell. I have two 9" rears from the 70's.I will check into them.

robert shreveport I did a little research with the local big parts stores online today but I have to call the stores when they open. She cried when I gave her this car. It's very similair to my 400hp 66 Fairlane 500 that she loved riding in as a toddler!!!! I sold that car to fight for parental custudy of her so it has a special spot in our hearts. I'm so happy that she sees a 50 year old car as a thing of beauty and would rather have that then a new car!

When we wanted to convert 50's and early 60's Fords to self adjusting brakes we looked up the shoes to see "what fits" as far as other models, EZ to do at rock auto.Look up your rear shoes at www.rockauto.com then click on the option and you will find later models that use the same parts.
