Today, Thank A VET. Many parades and graveside/memorial ceremonies yesterday and today.
Our city has the Parade and ceremonies on Memorial Day which is the 30th.
I'm driving the Grand Marshall, albeit in a 35 Auburn Speedster, not the A.

As a veteran myself I appreciate all the well-wishes and "thanks" however there is an important distinction many people are forgetting.

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday which occurs every year on the final Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces - Veterans Day is an official United States holiday which honors people who have served in armed service also known as veterans. It is observed on November 11 each year.

Today we remember those who died fighting for our country - On November 11 we honor all veterans who served.

Personally I want to thank all of the other veterans out there who ever served our country but today is a day of remembrance for those who died.

A thank you for the hero's that gave of themselves for their fellow man. Hero's are NOT sports figures who get paid handsomely for their work but to those who paid the price with their lives. Let's not forget our true hero's.

Many years ago I became associated with the national PT Boat organization. I was Army long after their service. Listening to their story's gave me a new prospective on FREEDOM. So many that I got to know are now gone.

I was just a small lad during that war and do not remember much of that time.
I will always remember listening to these courageous gentlemen and their accounts of action.

Today and everyday that relates to our Military will find the flags of each branch of service flying from the front of our house in their HONOR.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND AMERICA'S MILITARY, may they always prevail to keep us FREE.
